In their article “Syrian Crisis and Migration” (2015), Yazgan, Uktu, and Sirkeci argue that the Syrian Refugee Crisis “has escalated sharply and its impact is widening from neighboring countries toward Europe” (1). The authors support their statements by providing insight on the background and reasons for the Syrian crisis, and providing strong statistics to bolster the claims they make.  The authors’ purpose to inform the readers about the Syrian Refugee Crisis; where it began and how it effects the world and specific countries today. The authors’ language implies an educated audience with little to no previous background information on the topic based on the extensive information they provide about the origin of the issue.
