In his article, "Being with Uncertainty: A Reflective Account of a Personal Relationship with an Asylum Seeker/Refugee" (2016), Morrison argues that “We have a moral and legal duty to support those in such dire circumstances” (18), and supports his claims with the use of anecdotes, pathos, and statistics. Morrison’s purpose in this article is somewhat to persuade readers in favor of accepting refugees, and also informing the readers about the situation as a whole. Morrison’s emotional language but direct tone signposts an uneducated audience that may or may not know much about the issue, and people that are against accepting refugees.
